$30,000
To the University of Central Florida (UCF) Orlando, Fla., to continue evaluation of the fate of nitrogen in bioreactor landfills by conducting laboratory and field studies aimed at determining nitrification and denitrification rates as a function of ammonia and nitrate mass loadings, respectively, under different environmental conditions to more accurately characterize nitrification and denitrification in landfills and to provide the data necessary to enable field-scale implementation.  This is extended funding for a project that was initially approved in April 2002.  Nitrogen investigation is expected to continue throughout the life of the project with periodic updates.
