Remembering your loved ones, your friends, clients and colleagues… In 2001, the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) started a program that offers a simple, affordable and memorable way to pay tribute to someone special -- the publication of an honorarium or memorial in our popular newsletter. The proceeds collected through honorarium and memorial giving benefit waste management and recycling research and education projects. We hope you will consider a short honorarium or remembrance for us to include in our bi-annual newsletter. A section in each newsletter is reserved especially for these dedications. Honorariums most often expressed represent the birth of a child, an anniversary, a wedding, a personal milestone, retirement, or receipt of a distinguished award. Make people feel appreciated with a few simple words. A "Thanks for 15 years of service Ed!" or "Congratulations, Tim, on your Driver of the Year nomination!" will go a long way. For some, there's nothing more pleasing -- or rewarding -- than to be recognized. Submissions of honorariums and memorials (text only) must be received by April 1 to be included in our spring newsletter, and by September 1 to be included in our fall issue. A copy of the newsletter containing your honorarium or memorial will be sent directly to you and your honoree. EREF's newsletter is distributed to over 10,000 individuals, worldwide, including waste industry professionals and environmental science educators. Contributions are requested in exchange for printing your honorarium or memorial and are accepted in any amount. But for donations of $250 or more, the acknowledgment letter is accompanied by a Certificate of Support. The proceeds are typically used to fund waste management research and education projects, but you may specify instead that your donation be applied to our scholarship program.
