Deborah Hockman, Ph.D., Elected to Chairman of Environmental
Research and Education Foundation

Alexandria, Va. - Deborah Hockman, Ph.D. was elected on December 13, 2002 to Chairman of the Board of the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) based in Alexandria, Virginia. EREF is a non-profit organization that funds the development of environmental solutions through research and education.  Her election to Chairman is for a one-year term. 

Dr. Hockman is a consultant in the food testing industry based in Chicago. Prior executive positions have included:  Vice President Quality Management and Technology (2001-2002) and Vice President-North American Operations (1999-2001) for Silliker Group, Corp.; various executive and leadership positions at Waste Management, Inc. - Vice President, EHS & Technology (1995-1998); Director, Environmental Monitoring Laboratories (1991-1995); and Assistant Director, Environmental Monitoring Laboratories (1987-1995).  She was also a Scientist in pharmaceutical research as a Group Leader R&D for American Cyanamid (1984-1987); Research Investigator, R&D, G.D. Searle (1982-1984); and Spectroscopist, Analytical Services Lab, Northwestern University (1982).  

Dr. Hockman received her B.S., Chemistry from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, IL, and her Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry from Loyola University, Chicago, IL.  

Her civic and professional memberships and affiliations include:  Editorial Board Member, Managing the Modern Laboratory (1994-present); Board Member of the American Council of Independent Laboratories (2002-present);  Environmental Research & Education Foundation Board Member (1996-present); Packer Group Board Member (1999-present); Illinois Institute of Technology, Board of Trustees (1996-1999); Past President, International Association of Environmental Testing Laboratories (1995-1997); American Chemical Society-Member.
