Elected to Chairman of Environmental
Research and Education
Foundation
Washington, D.C. - Ronald J. McCracken, president of Bes-Pac, Inc. since 1988, was elected in January to Chairman of the Board of the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), based in Washington, DC. EREF is a non-profit organization that funds the development of environmental solutions through research and education.
Mr. McCracken began his career in 1980 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Tanglewood Manufacturing, Inc., Yadkinville, NC. In 1982, he became President of Linwood Manufacturing Company, Linwood, NC, and in 1986 rose to Vice President of Mannington Wood Floors Company, High Point, NC. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University College of Law, Columbus, Ohio (J.D. cum laude) and the University of Toledo, Ohio (B.A., Economics and Business, Honors).
Mr. McCracken's election to chairman is for a 1-year term. He also serves as the foundation's representative to the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Environmental Technologies Trade Advisory Committee to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce and the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) Board of Governors. Mr. McCracken has served in numerous industry roles as a volunteer leader, earning WASTEC's first Member of the Year award in 1992 and recognition for long service to the industry with WASTEC's Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
Bes-Pac, founded in the 1960s and based in Easley, NC, is a leader in the waste handling equipment industry. The company has been manufacturing containers and compactors for industrial and commercial use for over 25 years.
