Capital Campaign:
In June 1999,
we officially kicked off our second capital campaign aptly named
"Building the Legacy" with an objective of $8,000,000
to be raised over a five-year period. The campaign sought
significant financial commitments from the solid waste services
community and was a volunteer effort conducted under the auspices
of the board of directors.
In June 2003, we closed the campaign having raised $8,367,014!
We are indebted to the solid waste service industry for
its generous support and belief in the important work of the foundation.
We are also pleased to list the people and companies who were
a part of "Building the Legacy":

Annual
Refuse
Equipment Auction:
Each year,
the foundation holds its Refuse Equipment Absolute Auction during
WasteExpo. WasteExpo is the largest event in North America serving
the $40 billion waste and recycling market.
New solid
waste service equipment and professional services, donated by members
of the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) (includes the Waste
Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) and National Solid Wastes
Management Association (NSWMA)), are auctioned off by a professional
auctioneer with all proceeds benefiting the foundation. Donors are
provided with a letter of acknowledgement indicating the fair market
value of the donated item (contributions are tax deductible to the
full extent allowed by current tax regulations).
In-kind donations and sponsorships are always appreciated, and specialty
items, such as fishing trips, autographed sports memorabilia, leather
jackets and other miscellaneous items, are included in a Silent
Auction.
EIA members
have been extremely generous in supporting these events sine 1995
and examples of the type of equipment donated for the auction include:
- front
and rear loader refuse trucks
-
roll-off hoists with tarping systems
-
lift systems
- compactors
-
balers
- roll-off
containers
-
trash carts and receptacles
-
stump cutters
Please join
us at our next auction! Not only will you have great fun and the
chance to take home some top-of-the-line equipment, you'll also
be supporting a foundation that benefits you and your community.

Annual
Raffle:
The
foundation also holds a charity
raffle each year immediately following the Refuse Equipment Absolute
Auction; raffle items typically consist of new or vintage vehicles.
The foundation sets a limit of tickets to sell - a pre-determined
amount are sold pre-WasteExpo, with the balance available for purchase
at the foundation's booth starting the first day of the show.
If all the tickets aren't sold, the item is still raffled off.
(Note: All federal, state, local or other taxes or costs
related to winning charity raffle prizes are the sole responsibility
of winners.)
Don't let
your chance to win a great prize get away. Contact us for
ticket and prize information.

our upcoming raffle details HERE
Golf
Tournaments:
The foundation
holds two golf tournaments each year to raise funds for its research
and education endowment. Solid waste companies sponsor the
events, which are held in various locations throughout the United
States.
